Margareten (the 5th District of Vienna) is a quiet residential district between Wieden (4th District) and Mariahilf (6th District), strategically placed along SCHÖNBRUNNER SCHLOSSSTRASSE — the historic axis leading from the city centre to Schönbrunn Palace (the Habsburg summer residence). The distance from Vienna International Airport (VIE) to the area around Margaretengürtel, Margaretenstrasse and Pilgramgasse is about 17 km. Standard transfer time is 22-30 minutes.
The usual routing runs along the A4 (Ost Autobahn) westbound, then via the Gürtel and Margaretengürtel, with the final segment via Margaretenstrasse or Schönbrunner Strasse adjusted to the specific address.
We regularly serve the SCHÖNBRUNNER SCHLOSSSTRASSE — the historic axis the Habsburgs travelled by carriage from the Hofburg (winter residence in Innere Stadt) to Schönbrunn (summer residence in Hietzing), about 5 km long. Margareten lies along the middle section, neighbouring Mariahilf to the north.
Frequent destinations also include MARGARETENPLATZ (the central square of the district with the reconstructed statue of Saint Margaret), the Theatercafé (a classic Viennese theatrical Kaffeehaus, traditional Vienna coffeehouse), Rüdigerhof (a historic Art Nouveau apartment building), REUMANNHOF (a renowned 1924-1926 social housing project designed by Hubertus Gessner, a classic of "Red Vienna" — one of the largest interwar housing schemes in Europe with 478 flats), Schönbrunn Palace (across the 12th and 13th District borders, 5 minutes by car) and Hotel Roomz Vienna Prater and Hotel Stadthalle.

Margareten requires familiarity with the layout of Margaretenstrasse and Margaretengürtel — the main arteries of the district. During morning (07:30-09:30) and afternoon (16:30-18:30) peaks, Margaretengürtel is congested with commuter traffic from Mariahilf and Wieden.
Reumannhof (Margaretengürtel 100-110) is a residential complex with separate entrances on the Margaretengürtel side — still home to 1,200 people, but the inner courtyards are open for visitors. Margaretenplatz has its own parking zone.
This route works well for Schönbrunn tourists (Margareten is the closest central district to Schönbrunn — from Margaretenplatz to the main Schönbrunn gate is 4 km, about 10 minutes by car, an ideal base for a full-day Habsburg palace visit), classic-theatre clients (the Theatercafé is an authentic Viennese theatrical coffeehouse with marble tables and framed daily newspapers), interwar architecture connoisseurs (Reumannhof is a classic of "Red Vienna" 1924-1926, alongside Karl-Marx-Hof in Heiligenstadt one of the most famous interwar social-housing projects in Europe), guests seeking a quiet residential neighbourhood (Margareten is less crowded than Mariahilf or Wieden, yet 5-10 minutes by metro to Innere Stadt) and travellers staying at Hotel Stadthalle and Roomz Vienna Prater.
