The drive from Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport to St Mary Basilica covers about 35 km and usually takes 35-50 minutes. The route follows the A1 motorway southbound, then the DTŚ urban expressway and the approach through the city-centre streets. The final stretch near ul. Mariacka and Plac Rady Europy can be the slowest part of the journey on Friday and Saturday evenings, when the gastronomic promenade is busiest. Ul. Mariacka itself remains pedestrianised — the chauffeur stops as close to the church as the current traffic plan allows.
After landing, your chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a name board, assists with luggage and drives directly to the agreed drop-off. The nearest underground car park is below Galeria Katowicka, about five minutes' walk from the basilica. For weddings, baptisms and liturgical events the drop-off is aligned with the ceremony schedule — in practice we choose a window in which guests can enter the church without colliding with the preceding mass. For larger corporate delegations or international tour groups we can coordinate several vehicles so the whole party reaches the basilica within one planned arrival window.
We also handle pickups after organ concerts, evening masses and the Easter Passion play, when traffic around ul. Mariacka and Plac Rady Europy is at its densest. The meeting point is agreed in advance, usually on the calmer side of the square on the day, and the departure time is set realistically against the close of the programme. A transfer to St Mary Basilica suits couples planning a wedding in Katowice, international wedding guests, organ-music enthusiasts and delegations combining the visit with dinner on the Mariacka promenade and a wider cultural programme in the city.
Arrival logistics
The standard drop-off is as close to Plac Rady Europy as possible, because ul. Mariacka remains pedestrianised. The nearest underground car park is below Galeria Katowicka (about 5 minutes' walk); for weddings and organ recitals the stop is agreed with the current traffic plan and the ceremony schedule.
