Wine Tour in the Modra Region near Bratislava
A Modra wine tour reserves one car and one chauffeur for a six-hour block for guests who want to discover the Small Carpathians wine region — Slovakia's oldest and most recognised wine country — without anyone having to drive after tasting. The format is designed for couples and groups of four to six who book a day pickup from a Bratislava hotel, two or three visits at carefully selected wineries in Modra, Pezinok, Svätý Jur or Limbach, a food-paired lunch at one of the producers and an evening drop-off at the hotel — all in one car with one sober chauffeur for the whole route. The default vehicle is the Mercedes-Benz V-Class — seven seats for maximum group flexibility, room for purchased bottles in the boot, captain chairs with reclining backrests for a nap on the way back and full zoned climate control. The Small Carpathians is a UNESCO Tier 1 wine region with more than two hundred and fifty wineries spread across the Modra, Pezinok, Svätý Jur and Limbach belt, just twenty kilometres north-east of Bratislava. The regional speciality is Frankovka modrá — a full-bodied red with vivid notes of cherry and spice that produces wines widely cited as Slovakia's flagship reds. Veltlínske zelené dominates the whites — fresh, mineral, perfect for local cuisine — and Furmint, a native white grape, gains recognition as a boutique-cellar speciality. The Slovak Wine Salon — Salón vín Slovenska, the national institution that ranks the country's top one hundred wines — has long featured Karpatská perla from Šenkvice and Vinné domy Modra at the very top of the list, two flagship producers of the region. Mrva & Stanko from Trnava, an international competition winner, runs a modern cellar with world-class tastings. Pavelka from Limbach is a boutique family producer with a tight portfolio of selected varieties. Vins Élesko from Modra practises biodynamic viticulture and welcomes guests for in-vineyard workshops. Janoušek from Pezinok runs a heritage cellar with tasting lessons in vaulted dark-stone corridors. The standard day protocol is two to three wineries within the six-hour block, each visit lasting between ninety minutes and two and a half hours and including a producer welcome, cellar tour, a six- to eight-wine tasting with food pairing and a short conversation with the winemaker on style, terroir and production philosophy. A full pairing lunch typically takes place at the second winery — several regional producers run their own wine-gastronomy kitchens calibrated to the portfolio. The chauffeur stays on standby at every winery on a pre-arranged parking spot at the entrance, and you do not need to worry about sobriety or logistics. The 2600 PLN six-hour block covers fuel, parking at every winery, bottled water in the car, USB-C charging cables, a freshly cleaned car before pickup and the chauffeur's full availability between wineries. The cost of tastings themselves is settled directly with the producers — typically twenty-five to sixty euros per person for a standard tasting with lunch, depending on winery tier and number of wines in the pairing. We coordinate winery bookings on your behalf upon request. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before service. Payment by card, Apple Pay or BLIK before the ride, or by bank transfer against a VAT invoice. To book the day we need a date, start time, pickup hotel, passenger count and taste preferences — focus on Frankovka reds, Veltlínske whites, biodynamic, boutique family or a mixed regional overview. A confirmation with the chauffeur's name, vehicle model and suggested winery route reaches you within a few hours.
