About this route
Route overview
Suwalszczyzna is one of the most beautiful post-glacial landscapes in Europe — morainic hills, ribbon and lobelia lakes, including Hancza, the deepest Polish lake at 108 m. The Suwalski Landscape Park covers 63 sq. km with numerous hiking and cycling trails through Cisowka, Smolniki and the Cisowa Hill (256 m). The Wigry National Park with a 17th-century Camaldolese Monastery on Lake Wigry is one of the most scenic spots in north-east Poland. The town of Suwalki is the birthplace of the poet Maria Konopnicka (a museum in her birth house) and one of the coldest towns in Poland. 270 km via the S8 to Bialystok and the S61 to Suwalki, 3 h - 3 h 30 min off-peak. The service runs 24/7. A standard summer plan: 8:00 hotel pickup, 11:30 Suwalki, town tour, the Konopnicka museum, lunch, 14:00 Wigry (monastery, lake), 17:00 return or overnight stay. From EUR 950 in a Mercedes V-Class for 1-6 passengers.
