Lowicz is the historical centre of Mazovian folklore and one of the most important folk culture sites in Poland. The Gothic collegiate basilica was the place of coronation of the Primates of Poland and today preserves Renaissance and Baroque tombs. The Lowicz Museum displays a full collection of Lowicz folk costumes (multi-coloured striped skirts, paper cut-outs, straw spiders), pottery and household tools. The most famous Corpus Christi procession in Poland (movable feast, May or June) — colourful flower carpets along the route, women in full Lowicz attire and thousands of photographers. The Mazovian open-air village museum in Maurzyce (6 km away) — 18th-19th century cottages, manor houses and mills. 80 km via the A2 motorway to Lowicz, 1 h 15 min - 1 h 30 min off-peak.
