About this route
Route overview
Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn (Skicircus) is Austrias fourth-largest ski area — 270 km of slopes linked on one pass, 70 lifts, an altitude range of 840-2096 m (Schattberg) and a December-April season. Skicircus refers to the circuit of slopes that lets you ride the whole area without taking off your skis (the classic octagonal White Pearl Trail of 64 km). Saalbach (3000 inhabitants) and Hinterglemm (1500 inhabitants) are two neighbouring villages in the Saalbachtal in Salzburg state, once farming villages and now a lively centre of ski events — FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 1991 and 2025 (February 2025), World Cup races and the FIS Snowboard World Cup. Après-ski local legends: Bauers Schi-Alm, Goaßstall (on the Reiteralm in Hinterglemm — the most energetic Alpine show with DJs), Wieser Hochalm and Hinterhag Alm. 4-5* hotels: Hotel Alpine Palace 5* (Sportstrasse 70 Hinterglemm, the Wolf family, 137 rooms, 3500 m2 spa), Hotel Saalbacher Hof (Dorfplatz 56, a resort icon since 1925), Hotel Egger and Hotel Rebhuhn. Restaurants: Maisls Restaurant at Hotel Saalbacher Hof, Rosa Alm, Goaßstall Stüberl. In summer the region offers 400 km of hiking trails, e-biking (the X-Line gravity park in Leogang), the easy BIG-3 region with Saalfelden, and the Kraller waterfalls. 380 km via the A1 to Salzburg, the A10 Tauern Autobahn (toll required) and the B311 to the Saalbachtal, 4 h. The service runs 24/7, flight tracking from VIE, winter tyres from November, snow chains on board. From EUR 1150 in a Mercedes E-Class one-way for 1-3 passengers, from EUR 1400 in a V-Class for 4-6 (winter and New Year surcharge applies).
