About this route
Route overview
The Prague Airport–Mělník route leads to the oldest wine region of Bohemia, where the Vltava flows into the Elbe — the historic confluence of the country's two largest rivers. The wine tradition reaches back to the 9th century; legend tells that Saint Wenceslas planted the first vineyards on these slopes himself. Today Mělník is defined above all by the Renaissance-and-Baroque Lobkowicz Chateau, owned by the family since the 18th century, and by the historic wine cellars beneath the town. From the terrace of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul one of the finest valley panoramas opens — the moment where the dark Vltava meets the lighter Elbe. The drive north on the D8 motorway takes around 40 minutes. From a premium guest's perspective this is the ideal route for wine tourism and landscape photography — the chauffeur meets you after landing, drives directly to the chateau, waits during the tasting and brings you back. We cover the route with Mercedes E-Class, S-Class or V-Class, with flight monitoring and 60 minutes of complimentary wait time after landing. Fixed price, chauffeur in dark suit.
