About this route
Route overview
Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula is one of the most picturesque small towns in Poland — a Renaissance market square with the Przybyla brothers houses (St Nicholas and St Christopher) from 1615, Gothic granaries along the river, the castle ruins overlooking the town and Three Crosses Hill with a panorama of the Vistula valley. A network of loess gorges surrounds the town — Korzeniowy and Malachowskiego rank among the deepest in Europe. Local bakeries produce the Kazimierz rooster, a bird-shaped bread symbol of the town. 310 km via the A4 to Tarnow, then S19 toward Lublin and national roads to the Vistula — 3 h 45 min - 4 h 15 min off-peak. The season is finest from April to October (gorges green and photographic). The service runs 24/7. The driver pulls up at the KRK terminal with a name board and delivers you to the Krol Kazimierz Hotel or a Vistula-side villa. A typical day: arrival into KRK, transfer (4 h), town tour (3 h), gorge walk, dinner at U Fryzjera, return or overnight.
