About this route
Route overview
Radruz on the Roztocze foothills, a few kilometres from the Ukrainian border and 25 km from Lviv by road, holds the only site on the UNESCO World Heritage 2013 list representing the Boyko type in Poland — the Church of Saint Paraskeva. The shrine was raised in 1583, three-part, with a log structure of larch and fir typical of the Boyko style, a steep roof and turret above the nave, a 1672 defensive bell tower and a stone cemetery wall with four loopholes — almost a fortified complex. The interior carries an 1648 wall painting cycle with Passion motifs, a Last Judgement and a Tree of Jesse, a 1648 iconostasis with royal doors, 16th-17th-century icons preserved in situ and a timber floor of split boards. The tserkva has held a continuous sacred function since the 16th century, today as a museum reserve. The most distant of the Polish wooden UNESCO sites — a natural stop for clients visiting Lviv. 280 km via the A4 motorway to Rzeszow, then DK19 and local roads through Lubaczow to Radruz — 3 h 30 min off-peak.
