Can the plan be changed — reverse the order or focus on Krakow only?

Yes, although Auschwitz morning + Krakow afternoon is the best order: the Auschwitz Museum is best visited in the morning (fewer groups, the 10:00-13:00 slot emotionally fresher), and Krakow Old Town naturally closes the day in afternoon light with dinner at Wierzynek. Reversing the order is not recommended — an emotionally heavy visit after a light day in Krakow.
