About this route
Route overview
Banská Štiavnica is one of Slovakia's earliest UNESCO World Heritage inscriptions (1993) and Europe's second-oldest mining town, with civic privileges granted in 1156. The route from BTS via D1 and R2 through Žiar nad Hronom takes the guest deep into the Carpathian heritage layer where the Old Castle and New Castle, the Calvary with its seventeen Passion stations, the Slovak Mining Museum, and the Tajchy artificial lakes (also part of the UNESCO inscription for their mining-era water management) build one of the densest heritage densities in the region. Most assignments run as a full BTS-and-back day or as a one-way drop for a multi-day Central Slovakia programme — the chauffeur stays on call for the full day (8–12 h), Mercedes E, S or V matched to the party.
