About this route
Route overview
Banská Bystrica is one of the strongest heritage anchors in central Slovakia — Národné námestie with its clock tower and Mariánsky stĺp, the brutalist Múzeum SNP (Slovak National Uprising 1944, designed by Dušan Kuzma in 1969) as one of the major WWII monuments in the region, the Mining and Opera Museum and the Hron embankment. It is also the gateway to Donovaly (40 km) and the Low Tatras (Tále/Brusno 30 km), so the BTS–Banská Bystrica route serves both heritage day-trips and family mountain stays. A Mercedes E-Class on D1, R1 and R3 — guests reach the main square in two and a half hours from the terminal.
