About this route
Route overview
The VIE -> PRG inter-airport route links the two biggest Central European hubs: Austrian Airlines in Schwechat and Czech Airlines / SmartWings in Prague. 320 km and 3 h 30 min - 4 h of driving. We leave VIE on the A5 and A22 to the Drasenhofen / Mikulov border (Schengen, no checks), D2 to Brno and D1 to Prague-Ruzyne. PRG handles long-haul: Korean Air to Seoul, Air Caraibes to Paris with Caribbean connections, CSA and Emirates to Dubai, plus a full Wizz Air and Ryanair European network. The route is popular for AT-CZ-day multi-stop tourism: Vienna + Brno + Prague in 2-3 days, and for long-haul connections when a PRG-direct flight is cheaper than a VIE-direct. Bottlenecks are the D1 around Brno (roadworks) and the Ruzyne approach during 7-9 and 16-19 peak hours (up to 30 min added). The service runs 24/7. We recommend a 3 hour buffer for European departures and 4 hours for long-haul. Mercedes E-Class from EUR 1,250 for 1-3 passengers, V-Class from EUR 1,500 for 4-6.
