About this route
Route overview
The VIE -> KTW route links the Austrian Airlines long-haul hub with the main airport of the Silesian Metropolitan Area (GZM): 410 km and 4 h 30 min - 5 h of driving. We leave VIE on the A4 via the Drasenhofen / Mikulov border (Schengen, no checks), D2 to Brno, Czech A1 through Ostrava and Polish A1 into Pyrzowice. KTW is a strong Wizz Air base across Europe (Tel Aviv, Dubai, Reykjavik, Bergen, Crete) plus Ryanair and charter operations. The route also handles heavy GZM to Vienna business traffic: Katowice, Gliwice, Sosnowiec, Tychy, Bielsko-Biala — automotive and logistics combos with Vienna. Bottlenecks are the D1 around Brno (roadworks) and the A1 approach around Katowice during 7-9 and 16-19 peak hours (up to 30 min added). The service runs 24/7, we also handle early Pyrzowice departures (Wizz Air to Tel Aviv 6:20) after an evening VIE arrival. We recommend a 4 hour buffer before a KTW departure. Mercedes E-Class from EUR 1,400 for 1-3 passengers, V-Class from EUR 1,650 for 4-6.
