About this route
Route overview
Luton is the second-best hub for Cambridge after Stansted — only 50 km and 40-55 min via the A1(M) and M11, or cross-country on the A505. The choice depends on time of day and flight schedule, but either version is clearly shorter than Heathrow (100-140 min) or Gatwick (130-175 min). Guests usually stay at the University Arms, the Varsity Hotel & Spa, Hotel du Vin or the Gonville Hotel. We handle both academic visits (parents, candidates for interviews and open days, conference speakers) and business travel — Cambridge Science Park, AstraZeneca HQ and the biotech campus. May Bumps in June, May Balls in June (black-tie dress code), the Cambridge Folk Festival in July and graduation week need early booking because of late finishes and specific pickup slots at the porter's lodge. Wizz Air to Warsaw-Modlin and Krakow adds steady Polish traffic on this route.
