About this route
Route overview
A full day in the Silesian Beskids with a private chauffeur — the most famous Polish lace-making village, the last cradle of Silesian Goral culture and a unique geodetic point where the borders of three countries meet, woven into one eight-hour plan. Given the length of the day and the mountain roads, we recommend a Mercedes V-Class with comfort seats. Standard plan: 9:00 hotel pickup in Katowice, 10:30 Koniakow (85 km via S1 expressway and DK69 national road, 1 h 30). Koniakow Lace Museum for 1 h — Koniakow lace was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022, the most famous Polish lace worldwide (a dress of Saint John Paul II with Koniakow lace is in the Vatican Museums, lace was presented as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II in 2002), exhibits from 1900-2025, crochet demonstrations. Workshop with a lace-maker (60 min) — a private lesson from a lace-making grandmother, the technique of geometric crochet lace, a hand-made sample to take home. 13:00 lunch at the regional inn "U Kuli" (highland-bandit menu, kwasnica sauerkraut soup with mutton, highlander goulash, oscypek smoked cheese with honey, highlander herbal liqueur). 14:30 Istebna (10 km from Koniakow) — the cradle of Silesian Beskid Goral culture, the house of Pawel Sikora (the most famous 20th-century Beskid wood sculptor, the artist room with original sacred carvings from 1930-1980), Gallery "Na Groniu" with mountain paintings, 1 h tour. 16:00 Triple Border Poland-Czechia-Slovakia at Jaworzynka-Trojstyk (5 km from Istebna) — the geodetic point where the borders of three countries meet, three obelisks with the coats of arms of PL/CZ/SK, you can walk into three countries in 30 seconds, 30 min photo session. 17:00 Czadeczka Hill viewpoint (Silesian Beskids, 850 m a.s.l.) — panorama over the Zywiec Beskids, Czechia and Slovakia, 30 min. 18:30 return to Katowice (95 km, 1 h 30).
