Route overview
A full day on the Hel Peninsula — from its base at Wladyslawowo to the northern tip at Hel, four stops across the 35-kilometre spit that separates Puck Bay from the Baltic. Standard plan: 9:00 hotel pickup, 10:30 Wladyslawowo — start of the Hel Peninsula, fishing harbour, western beach, Alley of Sport Stars, a 30 min walk. 11:30 Jastarnia in the middle of the peninsula, the fishing cutter "Stary Maciej" — a museum-ship, fishing port, beach. 12:30 Jurata — interwar resort, where General Eisenhower stayed in 1948, the seasonal Sopot-Jurata ferry, "Sokolnik" villa, seaside promenade. Lunch at Tawerna Hellada in Jurata (seafood cuisine, smoked eel, Hel-style cod, sea bream). 14:30 HEL — the northern tip, the most striking point of the peninsula. Highlights: Seal Sanctuary at the Marine Station of the University of Gdansk (the only one in Poland, grey seals, public feedings at 11:00 and 14:00), Hel Lighthouse (41 m tall, 360° viewing deck over Puck Bay and the Baltic), the Fisheries Museum in the former Lutheran church, the war harbour and coastal batteries from WWII. 17:30 return to Gdansk.
