About this route
Route overview
Levoča was inscribed by UNESCO in 2009 as an extension of the Spišský hrad ensemble. The Basilica of St. James (Bazilika sv. Jakuba) holds the world's tallest Gothic altarpiece — 18.6 m by Master Paul of Levoča (1517). Mariánska hora above the town is one of Slovakia's largest Catholic pilgrimages, drawing roughly 750,000 pilgrims each July. The Renaissance Old Town with the Thurzo House and the old Town Hall round out the picture of a Spiš heritage town that pairs naturally with nearby Spišský hrad (14 km) inside a single day. The route from BTS runs via D1 motorway and R2. Most assignments are a one-way drop for an Eastern Slovakia multi-day programme, or a full-day outing with an overnight. Mercedes E, S or V matched to the party.
