About this route
Route overview
Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and one of Europes most beautiful historic cities, inscribed on the UNESCO list in 2010 (Grachtengordel — the 17th-century canal belt, the Dutch Golden Age). A city of 165 canals (Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht), 1281 bridges (more than Venice), 2500 historic merchant houses from the 17-18th centuries built within 5-7 m wide façades (historic street taxes) and 7000 listed monuments. The Rijksmuseum (Rembrandts Night Watch 1642, Vermeers The Milkmaid, Frans Hals — 8000 objects of the Dutch Golden Age), the Van Gogh Museum (200 Vincent van Gogh paintings — the largest collection in the world), Stedelijk Museum (Mondrian, Malevich, Kandinsky), Anne Frank Huis (Prinsengracht 263), the Concertgebouw (one of the worlds best acoustics) and the Royal Palace on Dam Square. Most clients fly Vienna-AMS (KLM/Austrian 2 h, 12 flights a day), but the private chauffeur transfer over 1170 km Vienna-Amsterdam is regularly chosen by Dutch-art collectors (Sotheby's Amsterdam and Christie's, transport of Vermeer and Rembrandt canvases from Vienna conservation studios with no baggage vibration and no X-ray), Diamond Quarter clients (Coster Diamonds, Gassan Diamonds — Amsterdam has been the historic diamond-polishing capital since the 16th century, jewellery moved cross-border without Schengen customs scrutiny), Zuidas finance-meeting guests (Amsterdam Financial District: ABN AMRO, ING, Rabobank, AkzoNobel), couples travelling to an Amsterdam wedding and privacy-conscious travellers. Route: A1 Vienna-Linz-Passau border (260 km, 2 h 30 min), A3 Passau-Würzburg-Frankfurt (450 km, 4 h 30 min, Autobahn with no limit), A3/A12 Frankfurt-Cologne-Arnhem NL border (320 km, 3 h), A12 Arnhem-Amsterdam (140 km, 1 h 30 min).
