About this route
Route overview
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and a UNESCO World Heritage city of the Old and New Town. Edinburgh Castle above the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Arthur's Seat and the Georgian streets of New Town form one of Europe's most recognisable skylines. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August is the world's largest performing-arts festival, and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on the castle esplanade is a cultural icon. From Heathrow the route runs via the M1, M6, A74(M), M74 and M8 — 660 km, 6h 30min to 8h. This is the longest road route from LHR — your transfer holds at a fixed price with no surge pricing even during the August Festival peak, when other companies raise rates by 200-300%. Premium hotels include The Balmoral, The Witchery by the Castle, the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian, Prestonfield House and Gleneagles (an hour west, a five-star golf resort). St Andrews — the home of golf — sits roughly 80 km north. Hogmanay (New Year's Eve) is another peak we handle with no surcharges. The driver pulls up to T2, T3, T4 or T5 according to your flight number and waits in the arrivals hall with a name board.
