About this route
Route overview
Windsor sits 60-70 km from Gatwick — Royal Windsor is naturally closer to LHR (just 10 km), but easyJet, Wizz Air and TUI passengers into LGW also need a discreet transfer to Windsor Castle, Eton and Royal Ascot. The driver pulls up to Gatwick South or North Terminal based on your flight number and waits in arrivals with a name board. Typical drive time is 75-100 min — the route runs north on the M23, then clockwise on the M25 (the western orbital) to Junction 15, then the M4 and A308 into central Royal Windsor. Windsor Castle (the monarch's official residence, open to visitors), St George's Chapel, Eton College and the Royal Ascot racecourse make up the heart of town. Premium hotels on our drop list include the Macdonald Windsor Hotel, the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa, the Castle Hotel Windsor and Oakley Court. During Royal Ascot week (June) Windsor becomes a hub for European society — we recommend booking transfers well in advance.
