About this route
Route overview
Tarnowskie Gory was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017 for its "Lead-Silver-Zinc Mine with Underground Water Management System" — the most renowned ore mining complex of Central Europe with a 1000-year mining tradition reaching back to the 12th century. The Historic Silver Mine (Adolf-Stollen) opens 1740 m of underground corridors at a depth of 40 m — visited on foot and by boat along an underground canal, with original 16th-19th century workings, steam machines and mineral collections. The Black Trout Adit 1.5 km away — the longest publicly accessible underground water route in Poland (600 m by boat between the Ewa and Sylwester shafts). The Church of St Peter and Paul from 1530 (Silesian Gothic), the historic Market Square with Baroque townhouses and Krakowska Street. 35 km via the A1 motorway to the Tarnowskie Gory junction, 45 min - 1 h off-peak.
