We leave Katowice on the DK79 and DK86 to the Murckowska junction, then stay on the A4/E40 motorway without a single exit past Kraków, Tarnów, Rzeszów and Jarosław to the Korczowa junction. Korczowa-Krakovets is the only crossing a motorway reaches directly, and on the Ukrainian side it feeds straight onto the M10 (E40) through Krakovets, Yavoriv and Novoyavorivsk — 406 km in total, over four fifths of it high-speed road. Every alternative from Katowice is longer: roughly 421 km via Medyka, 427 km via Budomierz, 451 km via Hrebenne. We enter Lviv on Horodotska Street and continue to the address you give us, including districts outside the centre such as Sykhiv and Zamarstyniv, or the Lviv-Holovnyi station forecourt.

Clearance for a car at Korczowa-Krakovets normally takes one to four hours. The quietest windows are at night and early morning, roughly 02:00 to 05:00, and on weekdays between 10:00 and 15:00; the worst are Friday evenings, Sunday afternoons after 16:00 and public holiday periods. That is why we usually depart Katowice overnight: four and a half hours on the A4 puts us at the border around dawn and in Lviv before midday. There are no flights: Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil aviation since 24 February 2022 and Lviv-Danylo Halytskyi Airport (LWO) handles no passengers. By rail from Katowice you have to change — first to Przemyśl Główny or Kraków Główny, then onto an Ukrzaliznytsia service, carrying your luggage across the platform and booking seats well in advance. The coach takes around nine hours, with a night stop at the border and a set-down at the Stryiska bus station, several kilometres from the Old Town.
