Can you fly to Lviv, and what is the best way to get there from Krakow?
No. Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil traffic since February 2022, and Lviv-Danylo Halytskyi International Airport (LWO), although undamaged, handles no passenger flights and no reopening date has been announced. Lviv is reached overland, and Krakow is one of the most convenient starting points in southern Poland: 326 km in total, of which 244 km run on the A4 motorway (E40) straight to the Korczowa–Krakovets crossing, followed by 77 km on road M-10 into the city. A private transfer collects you from your hotel, from Kraków Główny or from the terminal at Kraków-Balice and ends at your address in Lviv, with no changes and the same chauffeur throughout.
Which roads does the route follow and how long does the journey take?
326 km. From Krakow it is one continuous run on the A4 motorway (E40) through Tarnów, Dębica, Rzeszów, Łańcut, Przeworsk, Jarosław and Radymno — about 244 km — to the Korczowa–Krakovets crossing, where the motorway ends. On the Ukrainian side it continues as international road M-10 (E40): roughly 77 km through Krakovets, Yavoriv, Novoyavorivsk, Ivano-Frankove and Riasne. That stretch is single carriageway, so the final leg is slower than the motorway. The city is entered via the western bypass and Horodotska Street. The drive itself is about 4 hours; with border formalities the journey usually totals 5–7 h. Road M-11 via Mostyska serves the Medyka–Shehyni crossing and applies to routes from Przemyśl, not from Krakow.
How long is the wait at the Korczowa border and when should we leave?
For cars, clearance on both sides normally takes 1–3 h. The quietest windows are overnight, roughly 02:00 to 05:00, and on weekdays between 10:00 and 15:00; the longest waits fall on Friday evenings, Sunday afternoons after 16:00 and on long weekends. That is why we usually leave Krakow early in the morning: we reach the crossing ahead of the midday peak and arrive in Lviv in the afternoon. Before departure and again on the day we check the Border Guard estimates at granica.gov.pl, the Ukrainian data at kordon.gov.ua and the live queue monitor nakordoni.eu. If Korczowa is building, the chauffeur proposes a diversion via Budomierz–Hrushiv or Hrebenne–Rava-Ruska.
Is travel to Lviv safe, and what documents do I need?
We make no claim that the journey is safe — Ukraine is a country at war, the decision to travel is the client's own, and we operate only in western Ukraine and never east of Lviv. Documents: a valid passport is required, ideally with at least six months of validity. A national ID card is not accepted, because Ukraine sits outside the Schengen Area. EU, UK and US citizens enter without a visa under the 90-days-in-180 rule. Current guidance is published by your own foreign ministry — the UK FCDO, the US State Department or, in Poland, gov.pl/web/dyplomacja. The chauffeur stays in contact with dispatch for the whole journey.
How does a private transfer compare with the train, the bus or a taxi?
There is no direct train from Krakow to Lviv: you change at Przemyśl Główny and carry your luggage across, and seats on the Przemyśl–Lviv services are often sold out well in advance. A coach runs to a timetable and waits at the border while a full busload is cleared, normally longer than a car. An ordinary Krakow taxi will not cross into Ukraine at all, which is why a cross-border operator is needed. A private transfer leaves at the hour you choose, from the address you give to the address you name, with room for luggage and equipment, in a Mercedes V-Class for up to 7 passengers, at a fixed fare confirmed in the quote.
Can I add a stop on route Krakow (hotel, Kraków Główny or KRK airport) → Lviv (Львів, hotel or city address)?
Yes. Planned stops and waiting windows can be included within a single booking.
Will I receive route confirmation before pickup?
Yes. Core timing and operational details are confirmed before dispatch.
