Route overview
The highest range of the Carpathians in one comfortable day with a private chauffeur — the High Tatras (Vysoke Tatry), a National Park since 1949, 25 peaks above 2,500 m, the highest peak Gerlachovsky stit 2,655 m, alpine landscapes without the need for multi-day trekking. Standard plan: 7:00 hotel pickup in Bratislava, 11:00 arrival at Strbske Pleso (400 km via the D1 motorway, about 4 h) — the most famous Tatra moraine lake at 1,346 m, surrounded by the amphitheatre of Solisko, Mlynicka dolina and Furkotsky stit. 30 min walk around the lake (1.5 km loop, wooden boardwalks, view of the Solisko massif). 12:00 lunch at Hotel Patria (a 5-star mountain hotel on the shore of Strbske Pleso, Goral restaurant with a panoramic window onto the lake, traditional Slovak-highland cuisine: bryndzove halusky, sheep cheese ostiepok, roasted lamb, kapustnica soup). 13:30 drive to Tatranska Lomnica (25 km, 30 min), 14:00 cable car Lomnicke sedlo - Lomnicky stit. Ascent in two stages: first cable car to Skalnate pleso (1,751 m, 10 min), second gondola to Lomnicky stit (2,634 m, 8 min) — the second highest peak of the High Tatras and THE HIGHEST PEAK accessible by cable car in Slovakia and Poland (Rysy is only a hiking trail). 1 h on the summit: viewing platform with a 360-degree panorama (High Tatras, Low Tatras, Beskids, on clear days the Pieniny and Podhale), the Astronomical Observatory. 15:30 cable car return to Tatranska Lomnica. 16:00 walk around Tatranska Lomnica (19th-century wooden spa villas, Tatra Park attraction). 18:00 return to Bratislava (400 km, about 4 h).
