About this route
Route overview
Slovenský raj is the national park with Slovakia's most famous via ferratas — Suchá Belá, Veľký Sokol and Prielom Hornádu, with wooden ladders and bridges above waterfalls. Three main entrances: Čingov, Podlesok and Dedinky, with bases in Hrabušice or Spišská Nová Ves. The route from BTS runs along the D1 motorway, then the R2, through Spišská Nová Ves to the chosen park entry point. Four and a quarter hours is a conscious choice for an outdoor week — the Suchá Belá and Závojový vodopád ferratas, waterfall photography, multi-day combos with Spišský hrad (UNESCO) and Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa (an ice cave inscribed on the UNESCO list in 2000). V-Class for groups with backpacks, helmets and ferrata gear; E-Class for adventure travel couples. Hiking season May–October.
