Karlovy Vary in one day — without trains and rushing
Karlovy Vary lies 130 kilometres from Prague — the train takes 3 hours, the bus is similar, and there is still a walk from the station to the colonnades. A day that was supposed to be a spa escape turns into a logistics challenge.
We propose a different model. A Mercedes with a private driver is at your disposal for 10 hours. We pick you up at your hotel at 8 AM and reach Karlovy Vary in 2 hours via the D6 motorway. The rest of the day is yours: Mlýnská kolonáda with its 12 hot springs, the Vřídlo geyser shooting water 12 metres high (72°C), a tour of the Becherovka distillery founded in 1807, and lunch at Grandhotel Pupp dating from 1701.
The afternoon offers a choice: we book a spa treatment at one of the spa hotels (90-150 minutes, mineral baths or massages) or a walk along the colonnades and a funicular ride to Diana Tower with a view over the entire town. At 4 PM we head back, and by 6 PM we are at your Prague hotel — no tickets, no transfers, no stress.

What to know before the tour
Best time of year
Karlovy Vary is beautiful year-round. Spring and early autumn (April-June, September-October) offer optimal weather for colonnade walks. Summer is crowded; winter requires warm clothing but the spa town in the snow has a unique charm.
Drinking the mineral water
Karlovarské termální vody is sipped from porcelain cups with a built-in spout (lazenský pohárek). They are sold at every colonnade for 200-400 CZK — a souvenir, not a gimmick. Each of the 12 springs has its own taste and health indications.
Becherovka
A 38% herbal liqueur from 1807 — 13 ingredients, a recipe kept secret for over 200 years. The Jan Becher Museum tour lasts 30-45 minutes, with tasting at the end. The official shop sells a collector bottle for ~600 CZK.
Spa
Main spa hotels: Grandhotel Pupp, Spa Resort Sanssouci, Hotel Imperial. Treatments 90-150 min, prices 350-800 EUR per guest. Book at least a week in advance, we coordinate.
Pupp
Grandhotel Pupp — operating since 1701, filming location for James Bond Casino Royale and Last Holiday with Queen Latifah. Lunch in the restaurant ~140-280 EUR per guest, coffee in the lobby ~35 EUR. Dress code: smart casual.
Diana Tower

Can I choose between spa and a walk?
Of course. The plan is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. The afternoon (2:30-4 PM) can be spent on a spa treatment or walking the Sadová kolonáda and taking the funicular up to Diana Tower. Decide before the tour or on site.
Where do you pick us up?
From any hotel or apartment in Prague. Most often hotels in the Old Town, Mala Strana, Vinohrady and New Town — the driver reaches every address within the city.
Which car will we get?
Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 guests, business class) or V-Class (up to 6 guests, spacious interior). All vehicles are air-conditioned and equipped with leather seats, WiFi, USB-C and glass-bottled water. With a 260 km round trip, comfort is the priority.
Can we start earlier than 8 AM?
Yes. The standard start is 8 AM, but a shift to 7 AM is possible — particularly useful if you want an empty Karlovy Vary at sunrise or a longer spa visit.
Are children welcome?
Of course. The V-Class fits a family with two children and luggage. Child seats are provided free of charge — please specify type and age in the enquiry form. Karlovy Vary with kids: the funicular, the colonnades, lunch at Café Elefant.
Do I need a passport?
No — Czechia is in the Schengen Area and the EU. An ID card is enough; we recommend keeping it on you, but routine border checks are not in place.
Can we add another town along the way?
A short stop on the D6 (e.g. Loket — a medieval town 12 km from Karlovy Vary) is possible within the 10 hours. Larger detours require an extra 2-3 hours and a separate quote.
What if the weather is bad?
We adapt the plan. A rainy day means more time inside the covered Mlýnská and Vřídelní colonnades, a longer lunch at Pupp, spa instead of a walk. The Diana Tower funicular runs in the rain too, but views are limited. The driver pulls up to every entrance — wet dashes are kept to a minimum.

Can we cancel?
Yes — free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour. Shorter notice may incur fees for booked spa treatments (some hotels require advance payment) or the Pupp table.
