About the trip

What you will experience

The Wieliczka Salt Mine, in continuous operation since the 13th century and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978, is among the best-preserved mining complexes in Europe. The tourist route passes through chambers at depths of 64 to 135 metres: chapels carved entirely from salt, underground lakes, miners' sculptures, and the monumental St. Kinga's Chapel. The guided visit takes approximately two hours with a certified mine guide. After returning to the surface, the Mercedes V-Class travels west toward Oświęcim. The drive to Auschwitz I takes approximately one hour and fifteen minutes — time enough for a packed lunch or quiet rest in the vehicle. The visit to Auschwitz I lasts three hours with a licensed museum guide, covering the block exhibitions, Block 11, the Wall of Death, and Crematorium I. This programme requires emotional preparation: combining two such contrasting sites in one day is physically and intellectually demanding. The Mercedes V-Class ensures comfort throughout all transfers.

Przewodnik

Twój ekspert

The Wieliczka Mine has its own certified guides who lead the tourist route. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum requires a museum-accredited guide — our guides hold both certifications. The day's programme is considered: the morning underground passes through one of the greatest works of human labour; the afternoon at the camp invites reflection on 20th-century history. Both places ask for attention and presence.

FAQ

Pytania o wycieczkę

Is the mine visit suitable for children?

Yes — Wieliczka Salt Mine is open to all age groups. The tourist route is safe and well-adapted. The Auschwitz visit is recommended for guests aged 14 and above.

Can we visit Birkenau instead of Wieliczka?

Yes — we offer flexible programme arrangements. Please write to us describing your group's preferences.

When can we eat lunch?

A formal lunch stop is not planned. We recommend bringing packed food or snacks to consume in the vehicle during the transfer between the mine and the camp.

Is this programme too intensive for one day?

It is physically and emotionally demanding. It is suited to groups who wish to see both sites in a single day. If you prefer a slower pace, we are happy to arrange each site on a separate day.
