About the trip

What you will experience

Bobowa was the centre of the Halberstam Hasidic dynasty for more than a century — from its founding by Rabbi Chaim Halberstam (Divrei Chaim) in the 19th century until the Holocaust. The Jewish cemetery in Bobowa retains many matzevot and the ohel of Rabbi Chaim, a site of pilgrimage for visitors from Israel, the United States, and Europe. Leżajsk is the resting place of Rabbi Elimelech of Leżajsk — one of the founding figures of Hasidism in Poland — whose kever draws thousands of Hasidic pilgrims, particularly on his yahrzeit (21 Adar). The Łańcut Synagogue — one of the few synagogues in Poland preserved in its entirety — is an example of 18th-century Jewish Baroque architecture, with intact polychrome decoration and the original Torah ark. The tour lasts 10 hours and covers the Podkarpacie region by Mercedes V-Class. Time at each site is flexible — pilgrims may pray and remain at individual graves for as long as they need.
