The Slovak side of the Tatras — closer than you think
The Slovak High Tatras (Vysoke Tatry) are an underused opportunity for many Zakopane guests. From Zakopane to Strbske Pleso it is only 60 km and ~1h15 — closer than Morskie Oko. The Slovak side, however, has much larger ski areas, longer hiking routes and a gondola to Lomnicky stit (2,634 m), the second-highest peak in the entire Tatras.
The tour is designed as a single-day trip from Zakopane (~10h) or from Krakow (~12h). The plan covers Strbske Pleso, the gondola in Tatranska Lomnica, lunch in a mountain inn (halusky bryndzove) and optionally Hrebienok or Skalnate pleso depending on weather and preferences.
Mercedes V-Class is the recommended vehicle, since trips to Slovakia often involve ski equipment or families with children. The package runs year-round — winter for skiing (Strbske Pleso, Tatranska Lomnica), summer for hiking and the cable car.

What to know before the trip
Documents
Poland and Slovakia are in the Schengen zone — a valid ID is enough. No border checks at Lysa Polana or Chyzne.
Seasonality
The High Tatras run year-round. December-March: skiing (Strbske Pleso, Tatranska Lomnica). June-September: hiking, cable cars. October offers a golden autumn without crowds.
Lomnicky stit cable car
Daily passenger limit (~30 people per 30 min). Often sold out in winter and July-August. Online booking with several days advance is recommended — we handle it.
Weather
The High Tatras have a mountain microclimate. We check the forecast on the morning of the tour and adjust the plan. For high-altitude cable cars, have a plan B (Strbske Pleso, Skalnate pleso).
Dress code
Comfortable shoes (rocky paths). Warm clothing even in summer — at 2,600 m it can be +5°C in August. In winter: full winter clothing and sunglasses for snow.
Currency
Slovakia uses EUR. Inns and cable cars accept cards. For souvenirs keep a few dozen euros in cash.

How far is it from Zakopane to Strbske Pleso?
Only 60 km and ~1h15 driving via the Lysa Polana crossing. Closer than Morskie Oko, so the day can start calmly and end early.
Can the tour run from Krakow?
Yes. From Krakow to Strbske Pleso it is ~165 km and ~2h45. The full day then takes 12 hours. From Zakopane — 10.
Do I need a passport?
No. Poland and Slovakia are in the Schengen zone. A valid ID document is enough.
Are cable-car tickets included?
The package covers transport and a full day with the chauffeur at your disposal. Lomnicky stit (~37 EUR/person) and Hrebienok (~13 EUR/person) tickets are optional, on the client side. We are happy to book them in advance.
Will Mercedes V-Class fit skis and snowboards?
Yes. V-Class has a spacious boot and enough room for 5 guests with full ski equipment. For 6-7 guests with full equipment, consider an additional roof rack.
Do you only serve the Strbske Pleso resort?
Not only. We can adjust the plan: Tatranska Lomnica (closest to Lomnicky stit), Hrebienok (funicular from Stary Smokovec), Tatranska Polianka. Contact us with a specific plan.
