Krakow deserves more than a tour bus
Krakow is one of the most visited cities in Central Europe. The Main Market Square, Wawel Castle, Kazimierz, Podgórze — the list of attractions is long, and the distances between them large enough that walking all day becomes exhausting. Especially when you have one or two days and want to see as much as possible.
A private chauffeur is not a luxury reserved for celebrities. It is a practical solution that lets you see more in less time without hunting for parking, waiting for a tram or chasing a tour bus.
Suggested itinerary: Krakow in one day
Morning: Old Town and Wawel
Your driver picks you up from the hotel at 9 a.m. First stop is Wawel Hill, ideally before the crowds arrive. After exploring the Royal Castle and Cathedral, take a short walk down Kanonicza Street towards the Main Square. The driver waits at an agreed spot nearby.
At the Square, visit the Cloth Hall and look inside St Mary's Basilica (the bugle call sounds on the hour). Then grab coffee at a cafe on Grodzka or Floriańska Street.
Midday: Kazimierz
The driver takes you to Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter and today's vibrant culinary and cultural heart of Krakow. Plac Nowy, synagogues, art galleries. This is a place to slow down and soak up the atmosphere.
For lunch, try one of the restaurants around Plac Nowy. The legendary zapiekanki (toasted baguettes) are a local classic, but you will also find excellent Polish and Jewish cuisine.
Afternoon: Podgórze and Schindler's Factory
From Kazimierz the driver takes you across the bridge to Podgórze. The Schindler's Factory Museum tells the story of occupied Krakow in a way that stays with you. Nearby is MOCAK, the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Evening: Nowa Huta or a dinner with a view
If time and energy allow, Nowa Huta offers a fascinating contrast to the Old Town. Socialist-realist urban planning, Central Square, the former steelworks. Alternatively, your driver can take you to a restaurant with views of Wawel or the Vistula river for dinner.
"The best thing I did in Krakow was hire a driver for the whole day. I saw three times as much as I would have hopping between taxis." — review from a London-based client
Day trips from Krakow
The area around Krakow is full of places worth visiting that are hard to reach by public transport:
- Wieliczka Salt Mine — 30 min from the centre, underground cathedral and labyrinth of chambers
- Auschwitz-Birkenau — approx. 1 h 10 min, visits require advance booking
- Zakopane and the Tatras — approx. 1 h 40 min, mountains, Krupówki promenade, smoked cheese
- Ojcowski National Park — 30 min, Pieskowa Skała castle, Hercules' Club rock formation
Any of these trips can be combined with a day in Krakow. The driver adjusts the plan to your pace.
How much does a full-day chauffeur cost?
We offer hourly chauffeur hire. The price depends on the vehicle class and number of hours. A premium sedan for eight hours, split between 2-4 people, works out comparable to several taxi rides with incomparably greater comfort. Check the exact price in our calculator.
Practical tips
- Book your driver in advance, especially in season (May through October).
- Share a rough plan for the day with your driver — he will adapt to your priorities.
- Do not over-schedule. It is better to see fewer places and enjoy them properly.
- Remember admission tickets — Wawel, Schindler's Factory and Wieliczka require online booking.
